If you want to have a successful Internet business or any business, their are lots of tasks and responsibilities that need to be done to achieve your goals. Of all the things you do... what do you think would be your most important task? Well... in my opinion that would be building an opt in email list. There's is nothing more important to ensure long-term success and really have the ability to maximize your earning potential while at the same time reducing the amount of work time. Ask anybody that is doing this successfully and I'm sure they will readily agree.

So you've decided that's what you are going to do to, so you do your home work and learn every technique about building an opt in email list that you can think of doing. After all the effort, you still find yourself scratching your head, because maybe you built a list, but you're not making any money from that list.
Unfortunately you could even be losing money because the cost and maintenance to building an opt in email list are more than the profits that you receive from the unresponsive list.
Well you keep saying to yourself that everybody says, "The money is in the list", but you are just shaking your head saying this is bull and doesn't work. So you give up on the idea of building an opt in email list and go on to other things.
Even if you are resisting the idea of trying to build a targeted email list, DON'T. This needs to be a major piece of your business and a vital part of your success. Just be determined to learn it the right way and not give up until you are successfully building and properly monetizing your list. You will look back and really be glad that you did.
So what are the challenges holding you back from building an opt in email list? I'm sure you're already aware that there are many factors that are involved in successfully building an opt in email list and then monetizing it correctly. Other's have written whole courses and books on the details of this subject, but for the purposes of this article, I'm going to explain how you should be thinking even before you use any list building techniques. If you don't have these certain approaches, when building an opt in email list, all the techniques in the world won't help you.
Before even starting a list, like building a house, a solid foundation must be laid for the whole structure to stand for years to come. The foundation of building an opt in email list has 3 mindsets. If you apply these in your list building from the get go, you will greatly improve you chances of building an opt in email list the profitable way.
1-Focus on quality and not just quantity.
If you have quality responsive subscribers your list doesn't have to be that big to really make great profits from that list. So the mindset is to go about adding only quality-targeted subscribers to your list. I was listening to a well-known Internet marketer the other day that said they actually deleted a list of 2 million subscribers! Wow. That would be hard to do, but he said that they were so unresponsive that it was costing more money to maintain and market to that list than the profits they were receiving in return.
But of course building quality requires more effort and expertise than just building an opt in email list with anyone on that list. I'm not going to go into detail of the how's of building as much as sticking with the foundation or mindset for having a targeted email list.
2-A second mindset is talking to each person on your list on a one to one basis. Many people make the mistake of communicating on a mass scale as if they were in front of a huge group of people giving a speech. Try not to take this approach
Talk to each one of your subscribers as though you wrote that email especially for them. You want your prospects to feel a connection with you as though you were talking to them face to face. Most likely they've joined your list because you can help them in some way. They need you to support them and guide them along. So building an opt in email list really is about the one person. Never think you are too important or successful to maintain this mindset.
Keep this in mind and implement it and you will have loyal responsive subscribers that will trust you and want to respond to what you have to offer.
3-Develop the perfect system to attract the most targeted prospect and then use that system a million times over. Build your squeeze pages, landing pages, marketing and advertising around this thought to build the optimal list.
Do you know who Ray Crock is? He's the founder of McDonalds. What a master at applying this mindset. He built and tweaked his restaurant till he was maximizing the profits he was earning. And when he had a winning system, he multiplied the winning concept over and over in the form of franchises.
It's absolutely a waste of time to just haphazardly pull prospects from anywhere, thinking they will eventually act on your offers. They won't and you'll be frustrated. It takes some work to building an opt in email list the right way, but it will be well worth it.
Some final words to wrap thing up. Building an opt in email list is done one person at a time. Don't try to talk to everyone, but focus on being personable and talking to one person at a time. Actually imagine they are sitting right next to you and you are talking to them. That's the feel they should have when you are communicating with them. Don't try to fake it. Be yourself and don't try to act like you're a big company. Even if you are a big company, don't act like it. You will have more response when you are personable and treat your subscriber or customer like you care.
